Michelle Weinberg is an artist who draws and paints in her studio, and who also creates art for architecture, interiors and public spaces. She describes her work in all mediums as vivid backdrops for human activity, in which pastel and hothouse hues, eccentric patterns and personal geometries invent new spaces. Weinberg received a BFA from School of Visual Arts and an MFA from Tyler School of Art. She is the recipient of awards, fellowships and residencies from: Pollock-Krasner Foundation, SouthArts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Joseph Robert Foundation, South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship, National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, MacDowell Colony, Millay Colony, Studios at MASS MoCA,100West Corsicana in Texas, Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, homesession and Fundacion Valparaiso in Spain and Altos de Chavon in Dominican Republic. Recent exhibitions include Project: ARTspace in NYC, ArtPort Kingston, Hewitt Gallery at Marymount Manhattan, Charles Moffett Gallery, ARENA, University Art Galleries/Florida Atlantic University, City of Miami Beach, Frost Art Museum at Florida International University, Emerson Dorsch Gallery in Miami and La Plataforma in Barcelona, Spain. Her private and public commissioned works include ArtBridge/Downtown Alliance in NYC, Wolfsonian Museum in Miami, Miami International Airport, Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places and Facebook offices. She is an independent curator who has organized exhibitions at New York Public Library, Hewitt Gallery at Marymount Manhattan College, Byrdcliffe Guild in Woodstock, NY, Miami Dade College Museum of Art and Design, and she is Creative Director at Girls' Club in Fort Lauderdale, and more. Weinberg founded the flexible platform Available Space for promoting artist initiatives, and launching programming at Leeway, her space in Sharon Springs, NY. She is co-Director of Project: ARTspace in NYC. Weinberg is a Lecturer at SUNY Purchase College, Adjunct Faculty at Marymount Manhattan College and a Mentor at the Ratcliffe Incubator for Art & Design Entrepreneurship at Florida International University.
