(1914 - 2003) Born in Iowa, USA, to Russian parents, impressionist painter Victor Czerkas moved to California in 1941 to pursue a career in art. Czerkas began his studies at the Coronado School of Fine Art while employed as a graphic designer. He continued his studies at Chouinard Art Institute where, in the 1950’s, he met fellow Russian-American artist, Nicolai Fechin, with whom he studied. Creating contemplative images of everyday items, Victor Czerkas' still life paintings represent a “tranquil harmony" of color, shadow, and light after the Russian Impressionist School. *
