Jill is a ceramicist, painter and gallerist based in Provincetown and Boston. Beach Babes, 2024:I have been working with clay since I was a teenager. I have dabbled in other mediums, but I always return to clay. It is the one medium that I am free to let my imagination drive what I am creating. This new body of work, the Beach Babes and Dudes, has been percolating for almost two years. I have wanted to do figurative work for some time then after taking a couple workshops on figurative sculpture in clay this series finally came to life. I am a hand builder, working primarily with coils, slab and pinching. When creating these figures, I employ all these techniques to build them. This makes the process interesting and varied. The Babes and Dudes each have their own personality. They are fun, uninhibited and comfortable in their own skin. I hope they put a smile on your face as they do mine. Bio:Jill holds a BFA from Alfred University in Ceramics. She spent many years away from her art as she built a career in the design industry managing a prominent Boston architecture firm. She now focuses her energy on her creative surroundings in Provincetown. In 2017, Jill and her business partner opened On Center Gallery in Provincetown and Presley Rothenberg Fine Art Consulting. She loves working with artists and helping to promote their work. She thrives by being immersed with the art world, whether in the gallery or at her studio.
