Grace Adell Crockett (American, 1922-2007)Grace A. Crockett was born August 09, 1922, in Denton, Texas to Chelcie and Roxie (Coleman) Crockett. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor’s degree in Art, and worked for many years in the Dallas area as a Commercial Artist where she specialized in the design of Holiday wrapping paper for several major department stores. She had a successful career as a commercial designer, first for Neiman Marcus (1946-54), and later independently (1954-1978). In addition to her commercial work, Grace was known as a painter, printmaker, watercolorist, muralist, craftsperson. Throughout her career, she was a member of the following organizations: Printmakers Guild / Texas Printmakers; Southern States Art League; Texas Artists Group; Texas Fine Arts Association; Dallas Society for Contemporary Arts; Advertising Artists Association of Dallas She also taught night classes at Dallas College in 1948. Crockett died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at the age of 85.
