Mark Muckenfuss had the great fortune of growing up in a home filled with art. His father, Paul, is an artist and, at 87, is still actively teaching art classes. That influence, along with being dragged through countless museums and galleries as a kid, gave him a deep appreciation for art in all its forms. As a high school student, he learned to throw clay and has continued to create ceramic pieces off and on throughout his adult life. His work often incorporates both wheel-thrown and hand-built elements. In 2018, he began attending the weekly Open Canvas event at Karoo and reignited his love of drawing. Some of his work was exhibited in the “Sexuality Through Art” event at Mojo in April. His other artistic outlets include photography and music. Currently, he teaches pottery and drawing courses through both Art Nest and the Cayman Visual Arts Society.
