February 24 - March 31, 2024BFA, 1986, Kent State University MFA, 1988, Kent State University David Thornberry is a painter and art educator in Austin, TX. His paintings are based in observation/realism with a focus on all aspects of the composition, with positive and negative shapes and dramatic light and shadow. He also does extensive figure drawing and is a figure model. He is currently working with the subject of landscape. He considers himself to be more of a formalist with a secondary concentration on content. David is also an educator in and around Austin and has been teaching since 1986. He currently teaches at Austin Community College, the Austin Waldorf School, the Dougherty Arts Center and for the Austin Contemporary Museum of Art School at Laguna Gloria. He has numerous private students and runs Life Drawing open sessions in the area. David has an extensive exhibition record, available on request.
