Jeff Pastorek paints (gouache) on paper for both fine art and illustration projects. Born around and living in New Orleans (for what feels like an eternity!), he received a B.F.A. from Loyola University and a J.D. from Tulane. His most recent work wanders through vignettes of New Orleans at night time. Costumed revelers engaging in shouting matches, drinking heavily, and sometimes just being amongst the architecture. A subset of these spooky pieces include dangerous things visited upon the City, like Hurricanes, Germs, and Crime, in the form of the “spirits” that helped bring about or worsen the danger to its residents. Jeff has had the opportunity to have his work shown at the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, The Front, and Jonathan Ferrara Gallery; to have it purchased by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art; and to have it commissioned by the Oxford American, Defend New Orleans, and Preservation Hall, among others.
