Katherine “Kat” Evans’ vibrant, large-scale paintings are colorful celebrations of expressive possibilities. Inspired by Josef Albers and the Color Field Movement, Kat Evans creates vibrant paintings with luminous hues and raucous colors. Using bold brushstrokes and collage techniques, Evans masterfully explores the interplay of color and texture to evoke an emotional response in each composition. Throughout her career, Evans’ bold and compelling Color Field paintings have struck a chord among collectors and galleries. Her artwork has been shown in numerous juried solo and group exhibitions and can be found in collections throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and Mexico. Kat has a lifelong passion for visual communication and expression where her artistry has become an outlet to communicate her involvement with these concepts. Evans moves into each piece intuitively - open to chance - and applies complex color combinations to create a visual vibration. Evans draws her inspiration from the color harmonies of Frankenthaler, Matisse, Rothko, Mason among others, and cites her images emerge from the poems of Wallace Stevens, Emily Dickinson, and Frank O’Hara. “Color interaction and its ability to evoke an emotional response are important elements in my work...pulling the imagination into moods, movement and natural forms.- Kat Evans
