Amy Haney received a BFA from the Ringling College of Art and Design and MFA from San Francisco Art Institute. She earned an Art History degree from Prescott College specifically focused on the History of Printmaking. Amy teaches studio classes in the Omaha metropolitan area and is currently a Lecturer and Foundations Coordinator at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Amy exhibits locally and nationally, has been published in the SGCI newsletter and her work is included in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and Microsoft permanent collections. Amy enjoys the technical aspects and meditative repetitiveness found in printmaking. She likes to work on projects that are challenging in some form, such as multiple matrices or combining techniques. More recently, Amy has been digging out her old plates and repurposing previously editioned prints to create new works and reconstruct old concepts. With this approach and freedom, Amy has stepped back from the preciousness and the high standards historically tied to printmaking. Her images are segmented and stitched together or fragmented with overlapping patterns. With this process she has allowed herself space for exploration and is looking at things from a purely aesthetic lens. With this body of work, Amy is enjoying the reflective moments that occur in her artistic process.
