It all started with a painting class with friends. I really wasn’t that interested in learning how to paint, but I wanted to be with them. At the very first class it was as if a lightbulb turned on. I couldn’t believe how much I loved it! I have spent most of my adult life building, remodeling and decorating houses, not to mention raising three children. So when I discovered painting just as my youngest was going off to college, I knew it was a gift from Heaven! I started with landscapes and florals, but after living and studying in New York City, my love for abstracts was confirmed. As a “recovering perfectionist”, I rarely have a plan when I begin a painting. Instead, I grab some colors and dive right in. I paint intuitively and spontaneously; wherever the Spirit leads! I work in mixed media, using acrylics, collage and mark making of all kinds; and mix up the styles from organic and calm to geometric and colorful. I love to problem-solve and abstracts give me lots of practice! Yet it still gives me such a feeling of peace and calm. It is my hope that I reflect my Christian faith well throughout my life and my art, and that my paintings will bring you a sense of joy, wonder and abundance! You will find me painting either in my Atlanta home studio or in the mountains of Western Carolina at Skylight Farm. There’s lots of inspiration to be found watching turkeys, black bear, deer, honey bees and wildflowers swaying in the wind - such a place of solace for me.
