Artist David Jonason utilizes his keen artistic, talent and combines his a love of architecture, landscape and design to create evocative paintings that transcend the angles and shapes of his subject scenes – unadulterated nature itself. Mr. Jonason’s describes his innovative style as “contemporary cubism” – dashes of light and color that emphasize the physical geometry of Southwest. He integrates elements of Cubism and Realism into the distinctive lines of American desert locales. He depicts the strong cloud and rock forms with a dramatic application of color. His canyons and buttes celebrate the grandeur of nature. A native of Los Angeles, Jonason now lives in Mendocino. His style of painting, developed in the early 20th Century, reduced elemental structures and forms to depict them through a combination of abstraction and realism, with often sharply defined geometrical forms. Jonason’s exciting red rock vistas and “skyscapes” convey a powerful sense of the American spirit, of limitless possibility and boundless opportunity. The Marshall Gallery of Fine Art in Scottsdale, AZ, is pleased to represent David Jonason and his stunning works.
