The Sky Guy: Although I was born in Austin, I grew up in Piney Point Village, Texas. My parents were artists: my father was a free-lance illustrator; my mother was a painter and sculptor. Both of my parents were major influences in my life, and my older brother, Bill, was my artistic mentor when I was a little kid. I’ve loved painting since my high school days. In fact, I’ve been painting paintings most of my adult life. Also, I do a very small amount of teaching. Hercules da Vinci: I’d rather not say too much about my past. I had a short spell of homelessness for about 25 years, but I’ve got a pretty good place now. Let’s see, I love tuna cat food … and I sleep with tin cans on my hands. Is that enough? (The Sky Guy adds: I ran into this guy just off of the hike and bike trail. He was eating tuna cat food at his encampment underneath the Lamar Street bridge. Unbeknownst to me, the dude followed me home, and then I found him living in the subspace under my house! Turns out, he takes the thrown-out paper towels that I clean my brushes and palette knife on and makes what I think is some pretty cool stuff.) Juan Diego Nerumski: I was raised in a life of luxury, but I gave that all away. For what is money but another of life’s many burdens. To truly live life, one must find freedom. Seeking wisdom and speaking the truth has been my life’s goal, and luckily, I can sleep standing up. Oh, and I taught myself how to paint. In my paintings, I am striving for the perfect balance of color and line, in order to create something beautiful – although sometimes things get a little bit weird.
