René Exume, a prominent Haitian artist, was born in 1929 in Pétion-Ville and established himself as a significant figure in the art world. He received a strong education at Lycée A. Pétion and began his painting journey in 1948. As a founding member of the Foyer des Arts Plastiques, he actively collaborated with notable local artists Lucien Price and Max Pinchinat on design projects, as well as American artists W. Calfee Waldrop and V. Ford in the realm of painting. Throughout his illustrious career, Exume showcased his work in over six exhibitions across the United States and Europe. Furthermore, he imparted his knowledge as a professor of design at Lycée François Duvalier and Foyer des Arts Plastiques, leaving a lasting impact on future generations.
