Marti's drawings and paintings - often of wild animals in their natural environments - come to life through bold, stylized shapes and fields of bright color. Marti's blending and overlapping of swaths of colored pencil often take on a painterly quality, stretching the medium in expressive and surprising ways. Marti studies her subjects carefully, often making multiple sketches of her composition before starting work on a final piece. She loves working as a professional artist along with other resident artists in the studio and takes her practice very seriously. Outside the studio, Marti is an accomplished cheerleader. She also loves line dancing, Béyonce, going to see live music, and hanging out with family and friends.
