Samir Sammoun was born in 1952 in a quaint Lebanese village perched atop the Chouf Mountain, 40 km south of Beirut. To this day, the artist vividly recalls the colorful Mediterranean landscape of his childhood. At age 21, Samir immigrated to Canada where he obtained degrees in electronic engineering and telecommunications. Since graduation, he has pursued his professional career as well as his passion, painting.Sammoun began painting at a very young age but it was not until 1992 that he began to fully pursue an artistic career. Since that time, Sammoun has been steadily gaining ground and respect in the art community. His career thus far has included a large number of solo and group exhibitions as well as quite a few museum exhibitions. Collectors from around the world have gravitated to the sophisticated work of Sammoun and he is now represented in several private and public collections around the globe.
