His subject is preeminently urban. However, Peláez is attracted to space as the practically exclusive objective of his work. But this space is approached more as an atmospheric sensation, almost lyrical, than as a geometric problem. His works then reveal a universe that is built from subtle references to urban elements such as street lighting lamps, poles, cables, etc., wrapped in a kind of mist that gives them a certain unreality. His interest in space has led him to investigate three-dimensional objects. The artist abandons all sorts of very small objects that according to Miguel Escobar “are no longer things. They are signs, figures, traces of some language that has disappeared or barely emerged: they point to a destination, their presence refers to another reality, they belong to another world that is just being created or that has already been devastated”. Here that small piece of reality that Peláez chooses as a figurative element of his composition acquires an abstract function within the context. It is then about freely constructing a space from elements extracted from reality, but organized with a will, one could say, not figurative. 1 1- https://www.sura.com/arteycultura/obra/arbol-luis-fernando-pelaez/
