ANYA MOLYVIATIS (b.1994) sculpts woven environments, exploring the convergence of fibers, materials, and design to create immersive and multi-dimensional spaces. Her work pushes the boundaries of traditional weaving by incorporating three-dimensional structures, tactile textures, and gradients that engage the senses, transforming the viewer’s relationship with the surrounding environment. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Anya’s creative journey was shaped by her fascination with how natural and built spaces impact human perception and well-being. After studying sustainable architecture in California, she discovered the powerful expressive potential of textiles while apprenticing with a master weaver in New Mexico. This turning point led her to pursue a BFA in Fibers at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she refined her weaving techniques and deepened her focus on material research. In her current practice based in Austin, Texas, Anya continues to evolve her signature structural weaves, blending fine art, science, and design. Her works often function as both visual art and functional objects that create nurturing sensory environments.
