Spencer Simmons was born in Phoenix and raised in South Scottsdale, AZ. His work is focused on the places and things he knows. From the alleyways and canals he grew up playing in, to the backyards of ranch style homes and the people and things that occupy them. These are the actors that stand center stage in his life’s play. Spencer graduated from ASU in 2015 with a degree in painting. He also studied briefly at the Florence Classical Arts Academy. He continues to paint wherever his travels take him as well as teaching locally at the Scottsdale Artists School. Spencer has participated in most group exhibitions at Paul Scott Gallery in Scottsdale since 2019 and has had a catalog published of his works in the same year. He has also exhibited in New York City at the Sugar Lift Gallery for the Blue Review Art Prize, where he was one of ten that was selected out of thousands. He also is very proud of winning the Donald Jurney Traveling Fellowship in 2018 which enabled him to travel and paint around Europe.
