Although I have spent my career as a commercial photographer, I have always been a woodworker. I started working summer jobs with a local carpenter who taught me technique and traditional woodcraft methods. I applied this knowledge to the first wooden boat I made, a 16ft lapstrake dory which I still use today, 25 years later. As a photographer, I also used my woodworking skills in my photography studio in NYC, building sets and props for major advertising clients such as AT&T, Proctor and Gamble and Crystal Cruises. Most of my free time was spent making furniture for my family and later for clients that commissioned custom pieces for their homes. It was creating this work that led me to break with the norm and become more creative in my approach to projects. I am captivated by the landscape of the Southwest, the history of its indigenous people and the petroglyph art they left behind.
