New Orleans artist Katie Rafferty is fascinated by three-dimensional environments -- her love of paper and fabric guides her work as she incorporates textiles, fabric patterns, up-cycled anything, and her own designs into her printmaking and painting. Frequently inspired by literature and nature, Rafferty's multi-layered pieces reflect the New Orleans urban experience. She has been showing her work exclusively at Cole Pratt Gallery since 1998. Rafferty moved to New Orleans in 1980. Her passion for the city and surrounding area extends beyond her work; she is a Louisiana State Master Naturalist, member of The New Orleans Town Gardeners, and active supporter of the arts in early childhood education. Rafferty received a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature from Louisiana State University in 1980. She is largely inspired by the two years she spent studying in Paris at Sorbonne University and L'Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Aix En Provence, France. Rafferty is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
