Clinton is an American painter born in Massachusetts and raised in Southington, Connecticut where he currently maintains a home studio. His work stems from memories of his youth playing in tree houses, running through the woods, and splashing around in the ponds and streams of the Northeast; always curious to explore what lurks just beneath the water’s surface, or what’s living under the log. Over the years, Clinton has developed techniques for creating artworks that evolve from those abstract memories. His process begins as a painterly alchemy spontaneously “exploring the unknown”. These chance images are then resolved with many layers of paint until the composition balances as a whole. Clinton's work reveals the creative journey he's undertaken to his audience. Still, he expects and encourages people to see what they want to see through the lens of their own life experiences.
