Pablo Tamayo(Colombia, 1972) Pablo Tamayo is a Colombian artist whose trajectory has reached some of the most exciting exhibition venues. Trained in Fine Arts and specialized in engraving techniques at the Scuola Internazionale di Specializzazione di Grafica dÁrte, Florence, Tamayo’s work stems from the fascinating dialogue between technology and traditional painting techniques. Tamayo explores the possibilities of making art through both analog and digital expertise: "When it is too contemporary, I feel it loses its way a bit, so my technique," despite including a lot of technology, at the same time depends on "skill and the basic principles of drawing; the idea is to combine the two." In this regard, Tamayo’s work not only comments on the history’s evolution of craftsmanship but also projects to the future its symbolic capacity to introduce contemporary messages: "There are two clearly defined forces in my work; on the one hand, I look back in time, tradition, and art history, and on the other, I try to look as far ahead as possible. These are two oppositeTamayos yet complementary forces that I bring together in my work. Depending on how you see them, they might be opposite to each other, but in my case, I work my ways to get them together, to have them coexist, and eventually complement each other"world'sIt has been said that art becomes contemporary once it defines a plastic interpretation of time. This notion determinesTamayo'ss position as an artist today and guides his work with a rich repertoire of historical images and disciplinary techniques that create fresh and exciting, yet powerfully familiar, pieces of art create: "Tradition in art has played an essential role in my work, taking me to favor the retro-perspective theory that if an artist has a clear view and understanding of the past and tradition in art, they will have a more defined and clear path in front of them." With this in mind, it is evident that Tamayo's work is constantly seeking new and beautiful ways to expand the boundary of contemporary art: "I have been obsessed with the idea of appropriating values of tradition and traditional art and presenting them in a contemporary way with a valid contemporary language in terms of both concept and technique." Therefore, we are convinced that Pablo Tamayo is an exquisite artist, and we look forward to accompanying his career, which will continue to surprise the Latin American art scene.
