Eubanks grew up all over the United States and graduated from college in Los Angeles. Largely self taught, he has been influenced by 30 years of being an art dealer and gallery owner largely focused on masters from the former Soviet Union. He loves such artists as Vladimir Yukin, Evsei Moiseenko, Georgi Nisski, Schiele and Gaugin. Other artists he admires are Joan Eardley, Wim Oept and Ricardo Supisiche. He often paints late at night and tries to capture the solitude he feels at this time when everything is quiet and asleep. "I have always been a night person, so many of my paintings are of calm towns or villages under the moon. The few figures I paint tend to be more 'visitors' to the scene and not the focal point. I prefer simple shapes, flat two-dimensional compositions which the human eye can easily read (thanks Vladimir Yukin) and unusual color palettes. In the end, it is important to me that someone can discern that my paintings are unique to me and not similar to someone else's." Eubanks points to a quote by Egon Schiele as his impromptu painting motto: “I must see new things and investigate them. I want to taste dark water and see crackling trees and wild winds.”
