Anne-Lise Merchant, a contemporary impressionist French artist, creates her paintings in France and, more recently, in South Florida. She states her style as using, “liberated brush strokes to open my canvas, perspectives to create imaginations, lines to navigate and color palettes as places to enter into my art.” From an early age, drawing was at the center of Anne-Lise’s interest. She has received extensive training in oil painting in France at the École des Beaux-Arts. She has participated in exhibitions and art galleries in France and more recently in the United States. In September 2022, her painting, “A Day in the Central Park” received a special recognition for excellence in art. Anne-Lise is a member of the Oil Painting Association of America (OPA) and the American Impressionist Society. She has a Masters of Law degree from Université de Picardie Jules Verne in France and practiced business law, prior to switching careers and pursuing her passion of becoming an international artist. Anne-Lise’s desire is to have her paintings: • Connect with feelings, emotions and thoughts in a way that is difficult to express in any other way. • Provide a universal language to appreciate differences and uniqueness. • Capture a glimpse of nature, beauty, culture and society from the 21st century.
• Preserve and record events, places, objects and history and share my gift and legacy with others. In sum, in the words of Vincent Van Gogh, “I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say, ‘he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.’”
