Kristopher Wright (b. 1991, Denver, CO) is an American artist known for vibrant, large-scale paintings that examine moments of celebration, togetherness, joy, and loss within contemporary American life.Blending painting, screen printing, and collage, Wright’s practice creates layered visual narratives that explore storytelling, familial bonds, and the persistence of living memory. His work draws from personal histories while incorporating elements of drawing, photography, machine diagrams, maintenance manuals, and bold color blocking. These varied sources intersect to form compositions that invite viewers to make their own associations, prompting reflection on how collective memory shapes identity and experience.Wright earned his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2014, where he studied painting, printmaking, and art education. His work has been exhibited nationally, including his debut solo exhibition Just As I Am at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in 2022 and his inaugural solo exhibition with K Contemporary, Rock, Salt & Nails, in 2024. Additional exhibitions include group shows at the MCA Denver (2026), the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities (2026), and SAIC’s Sullivan Galleries and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Wright’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Denver Art Museum and the Art Bank in McCook, Nebraska. He was awarded a coveted NXTHVN artist residency with Titus Kaphar in 2025 and can be heard speaking about his work on Colorado Public Radio.
