ACRYLIC ON CANVAS BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA Andrea Moore, based in Whistler, B.C, creates acrylic and mixed media artworks, primarily of wild and domestic animals. Her works feature loose, sometimes gestural, brushwork, and seek to capture the energy and soul of the subject, often with intense focus on the eyes. Raised in Greater Vancouver, Moore majored in Italian and German at the University of British Columbia, and has lived in both Japan and Italy. She moved to Whistler in 1997, where she began painting, and soon immersed herself in study and practice with a leading array of Canadian artists and instructors. Moore’s work is inspired by the mountain wilds and natural beauty of the North American west. When not painting in her Whistler studio, she often is out with her dog in the forests, hiking, mountain biking, Nordic skiing—and stopping to take photographs that later inform her art. As a painter, her work is very physical, and increasingly trends toward large scale pieces. Moore is represented by Mountain Galleries in Whistler, Banff, Jasper and Stratford, Canada. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
