ACRYLIC ON CANVAS BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA Doria Moodie is a full-time artist based in Whistler, BC represented by Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont Hotels in Whistler, Banff and Jasper. She is a strong advocate for BC bears (black bears, spirit bears and grizzlies) and has spent many days observing them in the wild in order to paint large, intimate portraits of them. Doria was an artist in residence for 3 years at Knight Inlet Lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest. She was also recently at the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary in northern BC. Doria is the official artist for the Grizzly Bear Foundation (GBF) and a member of the board. Doria donates 1% of her sales to the Grizzly Bear Foundation and has also supported the Audain Art Museum for 6 years with a large painting for their annual gala auction. Doria also paints children, especially groups of little skiers that evoke a story, and landscapes, trying for fresh perspectives on the beauty in our environment. Doria is an associate member (AFCA) of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a founding member of Whistler Out-of-Bounds Artists. Her work is in collections around the world. In a previous life, Doria taught in the Vancouver French Immersion program, and was on the board of the Vancouver chapter of Room to Read which promotes literacy and gender equality in the developing world.
