He regularly draws inspiration from trips to the mountains, the West Coast, and Edmonton's river valley. After completing the Fine Arts program at MacEwan University, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1990, followed by a Bachelor of Education in 2000. For over 20 years, he worked as a graphic designer before returning to his roots in painting, launching a full-time career as an artist in 2010. His work is now represented in galleries across Canada. He is inspired by the outdoors—especially hiking, canoeing, and biking and enjoys creating images that reflect personal experiences in nature. With many years of experience as a graphic designer, Randy enjoys working from his studio, digitally sketching and crafting compositions before putting paint to canvas. He also likes drawing on location and occasionally painting outdoors. He primarily uses acrylics for their fast-drying qualities, which allow for spontaneous layering of color and texture—bringing energy and depth to his work.
