Rutherfordton, NC ARTIST STATEMENT CONTEMPLATING TRUTH:In a body of work there is a common thread of expression and exploration that binds it together. My current work contemplates our shared existence and individual essence. It is a pursuit of "truth"(trying to figure out what and how things really are) . I am intrigued by what we think, do and say, by who we are and how we live and the ideologies we embrace. DEEPER TRUTH:The body is the container that our consciousness comes in - and so I make the body. They are contemplative statements, reimagined artifacts, ubiquitous and global thoughts, and universal principles. They are questions that are never fully answered in any final way; where do we come from?, why are we here?, how do we live? Here's what I know so far:People are important.Love better. BIOGRAPHYNancy Kubale spent 25 years as a figurative ceramicist, living 50 miles southeast of Asheville, in the foothills of Rutherford County, NC. She lives with her husband, who has retired from performing arts management, and her studio mate Bo, a blonde hound dog mix. Her current life and work reflects an intention to slow down & cultivate connection to location, land & community. With a commitment to let curiosity lead and guide – these small batch, handbuilt, vessels & pots incorporate wild clays, multiple firing temperatures (including wood fire) and a variety of terra sigillatas, oxides & glazes.
