Madison, WI I have always had a passion for drawing from the beginning. My sole dedication to art has been a lifetime goal and pursuit. I am dedicated to recording natural beauty of the open rural areas of Dane, Green and Iowa counties before development overtake them. I work exclusively plein air, on location, rather than in the studio. I feel this approach lends a spontaneous and authentic connection to the land. John received a BA in Fine Art, Maryville College with additional study at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He spent 12 years as a full time Graphic Designer and Art Director in Advertising, Corporate Settings and Public Television & Radio, 32 years Instructor in Graphic Design and Illustration at Madison Area Technical College, 25 years freelance business in Graphic Design & Illustration, and for the past 14 years has been painting plein air landscapes in oil and most recently in pastels.
