Menomonie, WI I've always experienced the world as both a mover and a maker. It is how I learn. It is how I best communicate.Over 30 yrs. ago, while pursuing my first career as a modern dancer, I also began to dabble in jewelry making. For me, dance was a collaborative and public expression whereas jewelry making was solitary and private. It also took me out of the frenetic urban environments where I lived, to places of natural beauty where I collected the found treasures that would later become the center pieces of my jewelry work. Gradually, my 2 creative passions shifted in importance and I became primarily a metalsmith first and an occasional, yet enthusiastic dabbler in dance! My original impetus for making jewelry was born out of practicality, a desire to find a way to carry with me and show off the treasures that I found on my adventures. The beach stones, shells, twigs, moss, and sea glass were tangible reminders of these journeys. My jewelry designs are simple yet bold, and are always about finding thoughtful ways of showcasing the found element. I do most of my treasure hunting not far from my home on the shores of both Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. I hand fabricate each piece using sterling silver that I oxidize and complete with a matte finish. My pieces are a way for me to share my experiences and are constant reminders of our connection in this grand universe.
