Born and raised in Connecticut, Lisa Horrigan received her B.F.A. from Moore College of Art and Design, painting "en plein air" along the tree-lined streets of Philadelphia. After leaving the city, Lisa traveled extensively and lived in Switzerland. Returning home to Connecticut, she focused on watercolor and is now an award-winning member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society. Gradually, oil painting became her primary medium, however. Horrigan also began to sail competitively, which has made her marine art personal, adding another layer to her diverse subject matter.Horrigan's fascination with figure, shape, texture, light, and atmosphere is reflected in her work. Lisa's paintings are in private collections in the U.S., England, and Switzerland. Additional artist status memberships include the American Society of Marine Artists, The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, and the Lyme Art Association. She has been inspired to travel to Europe and Japan as well as New England, where she presently works from her studio in West Thompson, Connecticut
