Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Fox Spears earned a BFA in Design from Cornish College of the Arts. He is an enrolled member of the Karuk Tribe (of California) and often looks to Karuk culture as inspiration for his artwork. First exposed to printmaking at Pilchuck Glass School in 2007, he has been developing and refining his monotype techniques since then, primarily at Crow's Shadow Institute in Pendleton, OR. He also works in additional mediums such as painting, drawing, mural installations, and making 3D objects. Fox has completed commissions for a variety of clients that include Starbucks, Meta, and The Seattle Kraken. A square drum he made was acquired by the National Music Museum, and his monotype prints are included in the collections of the Washington State Arts Commission, City of Bellevue, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, and Hallie Ford Museum of Art. In 2022 he relocated from Seattle to Orlando, FL where he currently resides with his husband.
