Kat is an award-winning photographer, mixed media artist and writer as well as Co-Director/Co-Owner of The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton. Her work has been described as provocative, imaginative, unique, bold, crisp and unexpected and has been exhibited by galleries, museums and private collectors as well as featured in a myriad of publications and sites including The New York Times and Fine Arts Magazines.“O’Neill’s works are a colorful coupling of near abstraction with realism along with a strong dose of implied narration. She is continually on the visual hunt and makes photographs for both active series and to capture images for later use as collaged elements in her layered, and sometimes mixed media works.” Hamptons Art HubKat has won many awards for her art including platinum for Best Artist of The Hamptons in 2020 and 4 years as Gold for Best Artist of The Hamptons as well as The Award of Excellence by esteemed jurors Karen Marks, Director of Manhattan’s Howard Greenberg Gallery, one of the world’s leading photography galleries, Dr. Naomi Rosenblum, eminent photographic historian and Jennifer McGregor, Director of Arts and Senior Curator at Wave Hill Cultural Center. She was also chosen to be included in the top artists of world 2019 by the internationally acclaimed fine art magazine, Destig. As an artist with artistic roots in dramatic writing Kat works to balance impact and personality in all her pieces, often incorporating words and humor. Street art is mixed with city images, rocks turn into characters, industrial pieces take on their own beauty in abstract reflections or evocative still life’s, vintage album covers create montages, words convey a story and, often, paint and layers add dimension as her pieces are born. Of course also capturing the beauty of the east end is a never-ending challenge. Kat is intrigued by a variety of catalysts, both masculine and feminine. Her images are produced on canvas and metal. Those produced through dye-sublimation on aluminum can hang outside as well as inside, currently gracing a yachts, pools, barns, lounges and a few fire pits. All works are limited editions. Kat has used her creativity to generate money and support for The New York Philharmonic and The Jewish Children’s Museum. She also curated a fundraiser at Ashawagh Hall with 100% of the proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The Retreat and, in addition, has donated art to support Quail Hill Farm and Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue. Along the way Kat was an award-winning playwright and award-winning SVP/Partner/Creative Director/Writer at several global and boutique advertising agencies as well as a contributing fiction writer to The East Hampton Star newspaper.
