I am primarily a portrait/figure painter, motivated by the energy of life and expression. These bird sculptures were born, or hatched, during the unusual period of the pandemic, having more time at home to embrace a new medium, where art took to flight. To me, these sculptures represent nature, beauty, freedom, and whimsy.They bring a little of the outside in to refresh me and I hope theviewer as well. Each bird’s creation is unique, one of a kind, hand sculpted of cotton rag and ink, stitched in shape with cotton thread, and embellished with gold metal leaf in places. Mounted on hardwood and brass.
