Jami Tobey, born in Corvallis, Oregon, is a celebrated American contemporary painter known for her vibrant and dynamic landscapes and tree paintings. Growing up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Jami was deeply influenced by her father, Gene Tobey, an acclaimed Southwest sculptor. Her early exposure to various artistic styles and techniques in her father's studio laid the foundation for her unique artistic journey. Jami's work is characterized by its vivid colors, intricate details, and the use of acrylics and metallic inks to create a stained-glass effect. After studying art and English at Western State College in Colorado, Jami moved to California, where she balanced her early career as a third-grade teacher with her passion for painting.
