About the Artist: "Louellen Vernon-White – Most people know me as the artist who admires dogs and depicts them as angels. The “Guardian Angel Dog” etching series is my current focus. I began the series with a single etching of my dog “Maggie”, a long haired dachshund. From that first etching, I have added many more breeds. I believe with the right mix of love, care and training dogs can truly be our guardian angels. My intent is to depict the dogs in various attitudes of dignity, grace, and intelligence, and deliver a message of hope. Depending upon the viewers experiences with dogs and art, they will see and relate to the images in different ways. As with any work of art you will bring your individual interpretation to the work and invest it with personal meaning." "I graduated from East Carolina with a B.S. in Art Education/Printmaking. I spent a subsequent year at East Carolina University in printmaking and a year at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Independent Study in Etching. I have also taken courses at Penland School of Crafts in Printmaking. I have taught printmaking at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and at John C. Campbell Folk School. I also taught Visual Art in North Carolina Public Schools for six years in grades K-8. Currently, I am concentrating on creating etchings to expand the “Guardian Angel Dog” etching series with more breeds represented and showing my work through galleries and exhibitions." "I live in the small town of Yanceyville, North Carolina with my family and maintain a Printmaking Studio on the family farm in Blanch. I am an exhibiting member of Piedmont Craftsmen, Inc and Carolina Designer Craftsmen. I am also a member of Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art and the Caswell Council for the Arts." Want to see more of Louellen Vernon-White's work, and others? Visit our Instagram!
