Shane Ng Bing Ming is an artist who explores the structural balance and disposition of objects with the concept of transposing participatory elements into movements in the artwork. His research focuses on the conditions and boundary conditions created through ‘interactions’ between the user, material, and space using clay and the sounds collected from the processes. He is particularly interested in the stagnated animate(d)ness of forms that despite the stillness embodies the once animated exchanges. His current project explores the extension of making with the potter's wheel through distortion and manipulations of the vessel particularly during the greenware state, in attempt to expand the possibilities of working with the medium through wheel-thrown objects in the form of repetitive progression.
