Artist Bio: Cullen Peck’s body of work addresses the surreal, suspended moments that remain in our memories of childhood, both as children and as caretakers. Using images from her own daily life as a parent, Cullen strives to plumb the depths of our collective, universal experience of growing up and coming of age. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she received her BA from New York University and went on to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence, Italy. She has shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout Georgia and in Italy. As a figurative artist, her primary creative concern is the lived experience of domestic and daily life. Her work contends with the impossible power of light and its relationship to memory and the palpability of the human form. She now resides with her family on Saint Simons Island in coastal Georgia.
