Joseph Idowu (b. 1993) is a contemporary Nigerian artist known for his unique wood grain textures, which he meticulously incorporates into his paintings, sculptures, and pyrography. Raised in FCT Abuja and originating from Ekiti State, Nigeria, Idowu pursued a B.A. in Fine and Applied Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, where he graduated as the top student in his field. As a resident artist at The Universal Studios of Art and Akpojotor Studios in Lagos, he further developed his craft. Idowu's work has been featured in numerous international exhibitions and art fairs, including ART CONTACT Istanbul International Contemporary Art Fair and Impart Fair in Lagos. His art challenges common stereotypes of African children, portraying them as elegant, intelligent individuals adorned with exquisite attire and jewelry. Through his work, Idowu aims to transform the global perception of African youth and evoke a deep appreciation for humanity.
