British artist Jane Kell is a leading abstract landscape painter raised in Yorkshire, in northern England. Today a Londoner, she is often drawn to the City’s lush and meandering Bushy Park, where waterways and woodlands inspire her big and bold work. Above all, Kell is a colorist, masterfully saturating canvases with a mesmerizing mix of rich jewel tones and earthy hues. Born of generations of accomplished artists, she draws on that family influence. Pushing the boundary with color and form, her pieces are at once real and semi-abstract. Kell’s early work in landscape realism and still life have given way to these more expressive, large format canvases. She continues to paint figuratively and abstractly and enjoys how the two practices support each other. Kell’s works are in many private collections across Europe and the US. Her work was prominently featured at the Phillips Collection Centennial celebration of artists, remarkable for a non-American. We’re proud and pleased Kell has won this hometown honor! The artist's series of paintings, Color and Light debuted at the gallery in Spring 2023. Appointed Artist-in-Residence at Amy Kaslow Gallery in 2020, Kell has returned to England where she built a large and light filled studio. View her oil paintings below. A selection of her studies are available here.
