Marilyn has been a professional artist for over 40 years. Marilyn Yates maintains a home and studio in Santa Fe among the pinons and chamisas of New Mexico. The views of three mountain ranges and colorful sunsets provide endless inspiration for her landscapes. Her garden is filled with roses, lilacs and peonies which produce abundant material for her still-life work. Marilyn began painting at the age of 5 in her native Chicago. After a move to California she received her BFA degree from California State University at Los Angeles. A brief career as an educator in the California public schools system followed before she decided to pursue her passion for painting.
