Jennifer Nistad McCooey is an artist specializing in oil landscapes and still life. She began painting at an early age and is passionate about capturing light and color. Jennifer hopes to convey the particular moments of beauty that draw her to each subject she paints. Jennifer has been especially inspired by growing up in Charleston, South Carolina. The beauty of the Lowcountry and her connection to the water inspire many of her works. Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Dartmouth College. She continued her studies at the Art Students League of New York, studying with Joseph Peller. She has also been fortunate to study with artists such as Mark Boedges, Roger Dale Brown, Dee Beard Dean, Kim English, and Rhett Thurman. Jennifer has studied portrait painting with Ismael Checo. She currently resides in Westchester County, New York with her husband and two children. Jennifer is a member of Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.
