After studying Communication and Journalism at the National University Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) Lopez ventured into a photographic project, Changed Life: Recording Cultural Contamination in the Lacandona Jungle. This adventure took him for the first time to what would be his second home: San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas. At this stage he did public radio and wrote for local media, quickly integrating into the cultural wave of San Cristobal. After a few years he returned to Mexico City and worked in the banking corporate world, where he managed to gather the savings that would allow him to fulfill his dream of returning to the Mexican southeast where he has lived for more than 15 years, exploring—with his own business—the wonderful world of mezcal. Lopez began his printmaking work, debuting the label for the mezcal brand “Los Amorosos” that remains in mezcal culture of the city of Chiapas to the present day. Today his home and workshop are located in Torreón, Coahuila in the north of Mexico and with 9 years of experience as an printmaker, his graphic work continues evolving within personal portfolios where symbolism, flora, fauna and various characters converge of the fantastic world of rural Mexico and its distillates, among which the wisdom of mezcal stands out.
