Benjamin Frederick is an artist and teacher from Dayton, Ohio. He received his MFA in painting from Edinboro University in 2018. He teaches at several universities in the Cincinnati/Dayton area, and his work has been featured in "New American Paintings." Exposure to the paintings of his grandmother and father was formative to his belief in being an artist at an early age. Influences such as Pierre Bonnard and Fairfield Porter, who wrestle with family as subject matter while simultaneously dealing with issues of abstraction, have been helpful guides to Ben’s approach. Ben’s works are from observation and memory of daily life and include drawings, collages, and paintings. He is interested in the interaction between color and space and the differences between experience and the physicality of a picture. Ben lives in Dayton with his wife and three children.
