John Edward Walker was born in England in 1880. By 1913 Walker had arrived in northern California . He taught at the Carmel Arts & Crafts Club in 1913-16, Los Altos in the late 1920s, and Berkeley in 1932. His oeuvre includes landscapes of Mt Diablo and the Monterey Peninsula as well as floral still lifes. A plein-air painter, his works are those of an academically trained artist. Exhibited: Carmel, 1913; Palo Alto Art Club, 1923; Berkeley League of Fine Arts, 1924; Oakland Art Gallery, 1927, 1932; Santa Cruz Art League, 1929; Webb Gallery (LA), 1934.Works held in Public Places: Monterey Peninsula Museum; Oakland Museum.
