Katerina Skasi (B. 1994) Bridging the cultural gap between New York and Los Angeles, Katerina Skasi is a pioneering artist and designer. Born into an Athenian heritage steeped in arts and architecture, she's been nurtured by creativity since her earliest years. This inherent drive found a productive outlet during her formative years at New York's LaGuardia High School, where she devoted countless hours to refining her skills in drawing, painting, and ceramics. Skasi's artistic journey continued at the prestigious Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Here, she not only deepened her proficiency in traditional art forms such as painting and sculpture, but also ventured into the cutting-edge realms of screen-printing, digital video, and film photography. This eclectic blend of artistic disciplines has enabled her to develop a unique aesthetic that's unmistakably her own. Over the years, Skasi's distinctive body of work has been showcased in a multitude of group exhibitions across key cultural hubs such as New York, Los Angeles, Athens, and Mykonos. In a testament to her multi-faceted skills, she currently holds a pivotal role at the Mykonos Biennale as a curator and social media coordinator. The artist's boundless creativity isn't confined to traditional canvases alone. Her brand, Abducted Clothing, bears the distinctive hallmark of her aesthetic sensibilities. The collection, featuring t-shirts, accessories, and prints, serves as wearable manifestations of her art. In her work, Skasi manifests a vision that is intrinsically futuristic and romantic. She posits an era on the cusp of space expansion, where traditional forms of communication become obsolete and remnants of our current civilization morph into precious artifacts. Her dream-infused landscapes, populated by symbolic motifs such as dolphins and rabbits, challenge our perception of reality and time, and serve as cryptic prophecies of an optimistic yet unfamiliar future.
