Robert's paintings are ultimately about the search for harmony in color and atmosphere whether inspired by an actual place or imaginary realms. He is drawn to images that hover between illusion and suggestion. By their nature, his paintings are always experimental. Although the original impulse may come from specific sources as varied as art history, early 20th century glass slides, and travel in Iceland and Europe over the last couple of decades, in the end, they are created through an intuitive process intertwining his memory and imagination.
