Rhythm, pattern, perspective, and the structure of nature are zen to Laura, she is a lover of nature with a desire to create since her childhood. “Growing up in a small rice farming community left a strong memory and sense of the rhythm of seasons ingrained in me. Usually I am searching for large vistas, trees with a story, long shadows, a geometric rock bluff, golden hour, or interesting clouds. I capture these inspired moments with photographs, but my preferred method of capture is plein air painting.”A career in interior architecture, design, and teaching influences her painting. Sometimes, she includes interesting local architecture, reflecting how man seeks refuge and the scale he chooses to incorporate into nature.
