Fine Art Photographers. Marriage with a strong passion for art and photography. We live and work in Belgium. We started working together in 2016. Katarzyna Owczarek born in April 1983 - fashion/product designer and fine art photographer. She received her Master of Art degree at Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. Marcin Owczarek born in October 1985. At the age of twenty, he began studying photography at The College of Photography in Wroclaw, graduating with an honorable mention for his cycle Brave New World, which presented an idiosyncratic version of a future world. His art has also been influenced by his studies in cultural anthropology. STATEMENT Our project is mysterious, surreal and has emotional vigour. Our works are based on the poetics of surrealism, because surrealism makes visible the invisible and transgresses the traditional bounds of reality. Our minds work in a similar way, we feel comfortable in this kind of universe, so we decided to inhabit there and invite art lovers to visit us. Telling stories is a part of our fine art photography project based on surrealistic imagery. Our series titled "My Heart is An Animal" brings elaborate compositions combining human and animal elements. We employ animal characters in human settings, often in a social and spiritual context, because each creature brings to life beautiful and original symbolism and emotional values. We are all connected, people, animals, nature...as a one living organism. In every human being there is a piece of animal instincts and in every animal there is a piece of human being: soul, feelings, emotions, fragility. Animals show human emotions. Our observations reveal beauty, sometimes it is found in an unconventional way. For this reason our whole work deals with the relationship between Man and Nature, in particular with animals . Our artworks are both planned and subconscious. Sometimes it is deliberate observation, sometimes just like a dream half remembered. Strange encounters at the edge of perception. We create imaginary landscapes and we invite the viewer to immerse themselves into a world of dreams and mystery to see the reality in diverse ways. Our work is expressed in a surreal language, because we want to clash rationality and irrationality to find deeper meanings of life. Everything we see or do can be seen in both positive and negative ways. Not everything we see is what it really is. By creating poetic and philosophical works we want the viewers to interpret our work according to their own life experiences. The symbolism of our creation can be interpreted on many different levels, we tell a story about best and worst aspects of human existence. There are always many stories behind each of our work. You can explore as many stories as the human and spiritual eye might perceive. It depends on the viewer's particular life experiences. By creating surreal images filled with hidden meaning, we want to show evolution and transition of human's inner reality. We offer insight into the world of dreams, symbols, metaphors, allegories, legends and myths. The unique atmosphere, strange, conceptual scenes of hybridizing human and animal bodies, combining elements, portray and deeply touch our condition. Our work attempts to provide a strong impact: visually, mentally and emotionally. We want our work to speak for itself and for people to interpret it in their own way. Our intention is to explore the infinite possibilities of human imagination, in search of a connection between reality and beyond.To understand and explore human nature is an official credo standing behind the conceptual basis of all our art practices. NEVER FORGET THE FOREST SERIES Forest is one of the most important symbols present in myths and legends. Mysterious, whispering, full of twilight and shadows, symbolizing wisdom, reflection, meditation, memory, escapism as well as the source of magical power.Going deeper into the dense forest areas, even during the day, a man does not know what awaits him behind the next tree. The night spreads even more secrets, exposing shadows in the moonlight. A space where reality is left behind and the rules of the universe bend, inhabited by mysterious creatures, supernatural beings: spirits, idols, nymphs, dwarfs, a kingdom holding the secrets of nature which man must penetrate to find the hidden meaning. Forest has a strong connection with the symbol of the mother - where life thrives, life connected with fertility, the cycle of birth and death. It is a land ruled by nature, where man does not have control over the environment. For our ancestors, the forest was a sacred place, space of refuge and rest, therefore a place of existence for animals, hermits, ascetics, saints. The symbolism of the forest is ambivalent : first there is darkness as a cognitive term that evokes mystery, danger, death, a place where man’s pretense and posturing is stripped bare, revealing man as he really is – naked and overwhelmed by nature’s forces. On the other hand, forest is a space offering shelter and safety, asylum, peace, harmony, the host providing the conditions for existence in direct connection with nature. Forest and its longevity is a material witness, reminding us of our links with the past and places that preserve the memory of it. The forest also has its "hearth" regarded as center, essence. It is like a forest uterus from which all species of animals that live there come, and also the place of their free and harmonious existence. Also sick and very old animals go to the "hearth" of the forest to wait for death in safety and peace. Wandering in the forest is also a cognitive process, an attempt to reveal the secrets of the world represented by animals and nature. Confrontation with the dark and light forces of the other worlds that surround us and our senses, fears, excitement and joy. Forest is alive, when we go into the forest trying to embrace and tame its secrets with our eyes and senses, we come back with stories repeated by the fire, sometimes in a whisper, not to summon the creatures that inhabit it. ANIMA MUNDI SERIES Series of collages, describing the world soul, according to several systems of thought, an intrinsic connection between all living things on the planet, which relates to our world in much the same way as the soul is connected to the human body. Supernal Wisdom that transcends, orders and vitalizes all of creation.
